ABOUT US

Hello, I'm James, happily married with three beautiful children.

Here’s my story.

In August 2016, I was hospitalized with severe pain and unable to walk.

I later slipped into a coma due to a staphylococcus infection and was given only a week to live.  After flatlining, suffering a stroke, and
losing my memory, I endured three major surgeries, three minor ones.

I did over 14 weeks of rehab, relearning basic functions like talking and walking.

During this period, I was advised to undergo a risky operation for a serious stomach infection. Despite advice for a risky surgery,
I stayed optimistic, joking,
“If you don’t succeed the first time, try again.”
Eventually, I had a hip transplant after the infection spread.

In 2020, I was diagnosed with a cancerous dermal sarcoma on my head, which was successfully removed, and I’ll complete my five-year monitoring in August 2025.

This isn’t a sob story — it's one of survival, resilience and humor.
I’ve learned that with faith, a positive outlook and a good laugh, anything is possible. Life knocks you down, but it’s how you get back up that matters.

Inspired by my journey, I created "Angry Hyena" as a symbol of hope and empowerment. Offering a renewed sense of purpose to those struggling. A portion of sales will go to charities that helped me, with the hope that my story can help even one person.

Stay strong, keep laughing, and never give up. And funny enough, Angry Hyena (AH) is HA backwards—must mean something!
