ABOUT US
Hello there, my name is James. I am happily married with 3 beautiful children. Here is my story.
In August 2016, I was admitted to the hospital with severe stomach and leg pain—basically, the universe told me to take a break. I ended up in a coma for 16 days, hooked to life support, and was given a week to live. But guess what? I flatlined, had a stroke, lost my memory, and still managed to hang in there. Talk about overachieving! After 14 weeks of rehab, I was back to learning how to talk, walk, and basically do everything we take for granted.
At one point, I had to sign off on a risky surgery for a stomach infection. The doctors said, “It could lead to a stroke, heart failure, or worse,” and I replied, “Well, if at first you don’t succeed, try again, right?” I was clearly the model patient. The infection spread to my hip, and after 5 months on crutches and a whole lot of antibiotics that disagreed with me, I finally got a new hip and was back on my feet.
Then, in 2020, I was hit with a cancerous dermal sarcoma on my head. The doctors got it out in one go, but I now have a scar that's perfect for balancing a wine glass—priorities, right? I’ve been monitored since, and in August 2025, I’ll be off the radar, unless I decide to use my head for wine glass storage full-time.
This isn’t a sob story. It’s a survival guide with a side of humor. When life keeps knocking you down, just laugh, smile (even if it’s hard), and get on with it. I’m living proof that the human spirit—and a good sense of humor—can survive just about anything.
